Mama’s Quiet Lullaby

Mama’s been working herself to the bone. Maybe we take love for granted, but what Mama’s doing is a lot more than loving. No room for mistakes, and no time to rest. The money we don’t have. A life full of hard work for us kids. Her body is burning with fatigue. Her hands are callused, her feet raw, and her eyes always tired. Mama is doing the work of many. She doesn’t complain, not even to us. She is a strong woman, but sometimes she cries, and she cries alone. Sometimes we see her tears, and I wonder if she cries for us too. I wonder if she ever feels like giving up.
