Bonum Est Faciet

“Trials and tribulations piled up at my doorstep — so I moved to the rooftops.

I pushed the commotion down, assessed alliances to trivial playthings that hold no weight, discovering myself and all that I contain from within.

Home is not a structure built from wood and stone.

Home is a place inside, somewhere I used to hide, believing that I could only experience life vicariously through those who walked past my window.

Battling the anxiety and awaking from a living nightmare, I traded confinement and isolation for a view I had never considered.

Upon reaching the rooftops I timidly dangled my legs over the edge, shaking from the fear of heights that I hadn’t reached yet.

Uncertain of my own potential and the torn heart that I wear on my sleeve — paranoid that it parades itself like a flag for self-serving narcissists.

With eyes closed, auric hands held outwards in search of familiar energy, I press forward and simultaneously release all that has kept me believing that stale air was safer than skies.

Filthy freedom is within reach, here in this gap between ‘the before’ and ‘the after’, nothing can touch me.

GOOD RIDDANCE.”
